How to Volunteer & Support Ham & Oyster Suppers

There are many ways to help us out

Suppers are held twice each spring and twice each fall. The remaining suppers will be held on the third Saturdays: Oct. 21st and Nov. 18th, from  3 pm to 7pm

Dessert Drive

We are asking for desserts of all types: 

Cakes, pies, cookies, brownies, pumpkin rolls, cupcakes, etc…Homemade or Store bought You can drop off at the department starting Thursday. If you need to refrigerate something, please place it in the refrigerator in the main kitchen.  If you need your container/plate returned, please label with your name

Help Is Needed Throughout the Entire Week Leading Up to Each Event

  • 10:00 am on Tuesday: Grind Up Crackers for the oyster rolling. Takes several hours and many hands make light work! 6:00 pm on Tuesday: Set Up Tables and Chairs, along with placemats, salt and pepper shakers, napkins, etc. 
  • Wednesday at 3:00 pm, Cutting of Cabbage. It needs to be leafed and quartered and put in the cooler.
  • 9:00 am on Thursday:  Help weigh the ham.
  • 8:00 am on Friday:  Potato Peelers to peel approximately 10 to12 bushels. Bring your favorite knife/peeler. Some knives available for anyone who forgets theirs or doesn’t have one they like to use   Bring a friend or family member to sit and have a great time meeting new people or catching up with old friends. 
  • (Time to be determined) on Friday: Make Tea for supper! This task is long, and hard on your back, but there are instructions available, and hopefully someone will there to help that has done it before.

Help needed from 7:00 am - 9:30 pm on Saturday

  • 7:00 am: Oyster Rollers, Other Supper Prep.
  • All day: Dish Washers. Come work a shift or stay all day. A homemade sausage pot pie lunch will be served after all the oysters have been rolled and everything is cleaned up.  
  • 2:00 pm: Final Prep: Finish up the final touches needed up to opening for serving dinners, including dessert prep. 
  • 2:30 pm: Servers Needed (All those serving in the dining area, please arrive early for your assignments)  
  • 3:00 pm - 7:00pm: Ham & Oyster Supper is serving dinners. 
  • 7:00 pm: CLEANUP work, until completed.
